Have seen any Thamnophis sirtalis in Hyland Park lately? These critters are normally found on the ground when you least expect to see them. They are totally harmless, yet many fear them because they have far more dangerous distant cousins in other parts of the world. This one is black, but most of the common variety of these critters are black with three, yellow lengthwise stripes on their back and sides. They are up to 3 feet long on average!
Hyland Park is home to the Richardson Nature Center - a fantastic place for year-round natural trail hiking, bird-watching, geocaching, cross-country skiing, education, and family fun! Come experience nature - just minutes away from Minneapolis! Park hours are 5 am to 10 pm.
This geocache was approved by the Three Rivers Park District.
