This cache was placed for the Halloween Bump in the Night Event. All stages will be accessible year-round, barring several feet of snow. This area had two old and abandoned houses on it for years. We heard plenty of ghost stories about the properties! Now these 20+ acres are being restored to woods and prairie, and almost all traces of human habitation have been removed. It's amazing how fast the wildlife returns.
This is a family-friendly and not-super-scary multi-cache. Stages are not very far apart, though there may be a little bushwhacking depending on the season. Parking along the old gravel driveway is fine for as long as it remains accessible (it will not be maintained). You may also park at the Turf Care Center and walk in from the north trail that leads to River Woods, or at the Fishing/bike trail parking, and walk up the driveway from there.
The forest preserve hosts murder mystery dinners as special events--but this one is a little different. Find the clues and follow them to the cache. No math, projection, or field puzzles involved. Don't be scared!
