We were out grabbing the neighboring MCAGCC Twentynine Palms West Boundry cache (GC9GPQP), coming in from the north and saw the steep trail to the south. After a quick scouting of the trail on foot, we decided that our Cherokee was capable of making it and headed on up. Once we were at the top, we stopped to take in the views of the area. And, of course we decided this location was cache-worthy!
There are two ways to get here: 1] From the south, follow the trails from the Giant Rock area and you will be able to get within 800' (as the crow flies) in a 2WD truck or SUV with good ground clearance. But, to get to within 50' to 100', you'll need a capable 4WD. 2] You can come in from the north, and grab mainge's number caches along the way, but it would require a capable 4WD for this route.
Watch out for the critters that call this area home...remember, you are the visitor!
