Meet at the public garden over looking Ryde Pier outside Ryde Esplanade Railway Station on Monday, 1st November 2021, from 4pm to 5pm.
Many different forms of public transport can get you to Ryde Esplanade; ferry, tube, bus and hovercraft! If we are lucky, it will be the first day of service for the public with the "new" London tube trains, Class 484, running on the Island Railway. Regardless, we gather here to Geochat and exchange Trackables.
Since the end of steam trains in 1967 Ryde Esplanade station has seen retired London Underground trains serving this station. The first sets were built in 1923 and 1934 and ran in service from 1967 to 1992. These were replaced with the 1938 tube stock and served from 1989 to 2021. Ex-District line, D78, are expected to commence service today, 1st November 2021 and are likely to be running until the 2050s!
