CACHE STORY:
Past the parking area are some access paths to the river Ythan estuary and the North Sea beach. At the mouth is a seal colony of well over 400 seals. Search google for Newburgh Seal Beach for more info. Access with wheelchair is not possible.
At the south-east corner of the parking area is a path leading to the boardwalk. The first 50 metres are rough-ish terrain leading up to the boardwalk. Once on the boardwalk, the path leads upto a dune overlooking the estuary and the sea. This path is ok using a motorised wheelchair. There are a few steep sections that are not accessable with a handpropelled wheelchair.
Alternative access (with a bit of effort) to the river bank is possible using the paths on the golf course - beware of rogue golf balls. Search for access to the fishing bothies. Unfortunately wheelchair access through the gate at the car park is not possible.
OTHER:
Toilet facilities are available at the "Newburgh Inn" at the start of the Beach Road (approx. 500m). Toilet facitlites are also available at the ground floor of the Newburgh Golf Club (approx. 100m). The Club house is situated on higher ground and a wheelchair user might require some assitance to push up the hill.
