Elmo

Elmo is a three and a half-year-old red monster with a high pitched voice and a contagious giggle. He always refers to himself in third person. Enthusiastic, friendly and cheerful, he always wants to be part of everything that goes on. However, like most preschoolers, he sometimes doesn't have the skills or knowledge to do what he wants. But that never stops him because he has a very positive, optimistic view of himself and life. He has a  pet goldfish named Dorothy. He also loves riding on his tricycle and being tickled. Elmo debuted on Sesame Steet in 1980.

Sesame Street debuted as an educational television program for preschoolers in 1969. The show uses a combination of puppets, animation and live actors in short vignettes to teach reading, counting and math, cognitive processes, classification and basic life skills. In 2019, to celebrate the 50th Anniverary of Sesame Street, the US Postal Service released a sheet of stamps featuring 16 of the most popular and endearing Sesame Street puppets. This series of caches features these lovable, well-known characters.
