A quick park and grab that is available all year and serves as an introduction to Springfield Township's most recent addition to their park system (2011). More trail development for the 71.5-acre park is slated for the future.
In its current form, the River Run Preserve has a wide trail dotted with paper birch trees that circles a beautiful marsh on one side and has part of the Shiawassee River running alongside it on the other.
Bonus: There is a partial off-shoot trail that dead-ends in an area full of berries that are ripe for picking and snacking on during mid to late summer. Watch out for thorns though!
The onsite parking lot is closed from Labor Day to mid-April, but there is room to park in front of the locked gates off Andersonville Rd in the short, wide driveway area. There is no fee to park or enter when open.
