This cache is one of 6 caches found in or near parks or conservation areas around East Baton Rouge Parish that will introduce you to our native trees, plants and birds as well as allowing you to enjoy just being out in nature as you walk along the many trails found in the 6 locations.

This area was once an abandoned site used a a dirt/gravel mine. The Black Water Conservation Area was developed through the cooperation between the Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, City of Baton Rouge and Baton Rouge Parks and Recreation. It was opened in 2002.

The area covers 57 acres and consists of 2 large fishing lakes, a pavilion with restrooms plus 6 trails ranging from .17 miles to .85 miles. Take a visit to the beach along the Comite river for added diversity of nature. Dogs must be on a leash at all times.

Open Daily from Sunrise to Sunset.
