LSU Hill Top Arboretum is a 14 acre museum of plants and with a collection of more than 150 species of southern native trees and shrubs plus an evolving meadow of wild flowers. The property was owned by Emory Smith who used it as a working farm and naturalist site. Emory donated it to LSU in 1981.
The award winning facility offers views of the natural landscape, including a pond with an elevated wooden board walk, surrounded by native aquatic plants. The arboretum is used by the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture for research, teaching and service activities.
Walking trails takes you through various ravines, by the pond and through an evolving Cajun Prairie meadow. Take time to explore and enjoy the area and its purpose.
