!!OUT OF ALL THE CO WATERFALLS SERIES CACHES, THE WOLF CREEK WATERFALLS ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS AND DIFFICULT TO REACH. HAVE ADEQUATE BACKCOUNTRY NAVIGATION SKILLS, APPROPRIATE GEAR, AND STUDY YOUR ROUTE BEFORE ATTEMPTING!!
MIDDLE WOLF CREEK FALLS

Appearing out of practically nowhere from the thick forest, Middle Wolf Creek Falls is a powerful 100+ foot plunge into a rocky punchbowl. (Taken in August 2021).
ONE MORE TIME: THIS FALLS, AS WELL AS WOLF CREEK FALLS, ARE THE MOST DANGEREOUS WATERFALLS TO GET TO IN THIS SERIES. If you do this cache, be prepared.
That being said, it is no secret how beautiful this area is. The Wolf Creek Pass area contains some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Colorado. Middle Wolf Creek Falls, as I discovered it, emerged from the dark forest and shocked me with its sheer cliffs and beautiful setting. The falls created a sort of deafening echo chamber that resonates all the way down into the valley.
There are 8 waterfalls that I know of in this direct area. 5 of them are along/beside Wolf Creek. I have placed a cache at 3 of them, with more on the way. These falls, if you are interested, can be found on worldwaterfalldatabase.com.
The 3 caches have been placed here, at Middle Wolf Creek Falls, about .25 miles upstream at Wolf Creek Falls, and down the road a couple miles away at Treasure Falls. Of the 3, this is by far the hardest. I got to the falls by following the steep slopes of Camp Creek down into the valley, but this is a very difficult bushwack and scramble. If you find a better route, let me know.
Slightly downstream from this falls is Lower Wolf Creek Falls, which may actually be the largest along Wolf Creek, but i couldn't find any reasonable way to get down to see it. If you discover it, let me know!!
I will not include directions because there is no point- no trail, no cairns, and everything looks the same in the dense San Juan forests. You must do your own research.
I will give you this hint though: the cache is located under a large pile of wood/sticks. Here is a photo. Good luck, and have fun!
This is one of the CO Waterfall Series caches, inspired by worldwaterfalldatabase.com and Marc Conly, author of Waterfalls of Colorado. Other caches in this series can be found here!
