Geocache Description:

The "HK Aviation Series" is a Geocaching Power Trail, placed along the "Hong Kong Airport Trail", that has been recently renovated, from the Ancient Kiln Park and Antiquities Garden, by Scenic Hill at the southern end of Chek Lap Kok, running under the expressway and along the eastern coastline to the Hong Kong Border Crossing Facilities, located on a reclaimed artificial island at the north-east area of the Airport. The jogging track was refurbished and encompasses both history and nature along its route. From the trail you get fantastic views to the east of Chek Lap Kok, to Tung Chung and over to the New Territories. You will walk under the flight path of the South Runway, getting close up with the planes and get to see many fishermen and women along the coast. As an added bonus, you will also have a chance to grab few of the other already established geocaches at the Airport. There are 15 caches in the “HK Aviation Series” and each one will share a bit of Hong Kong’s Aviation History.

Aircraft Maintenance - HKIA is a centre of aeronautical engineering and aircraft maintenance with world-class facilities, and a skilled workforce to deliver the most advanced aircraft maintenance and engineering services. There are 24 maintenance stands, one engine run-up facility, one compass calibration pad and four aircraft base maintenance hangars to serve different plane models. Three aircraft maintenance franchisees operate at HKIA: Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering (HAECO) and China Aircraft Services (CASL) provide both line and base maintenance services, while Pan Asia Pacific Aviation Services specialises solely in line maintenance. HAECO, is an aircraft engineering and maintenance group, established in 1950, and employ around 17,000 staff in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore and the United States. Its primary activities are aircraft maintenance and modification work in Hong Kong, Xiamen and in the USA. In 2017, it performed 9.3 million manhours of airframe maintenance.
