While driving the Old Gasquet Toll Road, we've passed that sign so many times.
Interviewing some of the local ranger staff didn't give me much info, but the www did shed some, but very little light on the subject.

Sam was a prospector.
Who, along with Art Kelly, operated the old Elkhorn maining claim just East of the Patrick Creek lodge back in the 1890s
That's all I could find after almost a month of searching.
No date of birth, no date of death.
If anyone has more to offer, please feel free to note it in your logs and I will update the info.
The cache is a waterproof smartphone case hidden under rocks near the grave.
Area local cacher Dustydew has agreed to help with the maintenance.
