Geocache Description:

Susan was my Cub Scout co-leader when our now twenty-something sons were small. We shared a bond of motherhood and a love of scouting, camping, etc. Eventually we found we both enjoyed scrapbooking as a hobby and spent many hours over many years at weekend retreats with other scrapbookers, putting the scout memories and many others into beautiful albums. In 2010 Susan and her sons introduced me and my son to Geocaching while on a roadtrip to the 100th anniversary Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia. By the time we got back to NY, She had around a dozen finds and I had half that. Years went on, she moved to the neighboring county and her sons went to a different Boy Scout troop. We still got together for the occasional scrapbooking weekend, lunch date or geocaching. Susan developed an interest in doing more with family trees than she had been previously been doing, going as far as becoming a Genealogist. I have other reasons as well, but at her urging, I happily started doing genealogy and I love it!
18 years after we first met, she's long been out of Scouting but I'm in my 21st year as a leader.  While She's found like a gazillion geocaches (seriously, thousands) I've only found about 230. We still get together for lunch now and then, and are looking forward to being able to go to scrapbooking retreats sometime in the hopefully not too distant future. We chat about genealogy and she's always more than happy to answer any questions and give any ideas or opinions about any of our shared hobbies. She was right on board when I told her I wanted to place some caches at West Hills for an upcoming Scout event. We met at the park and she brought another seasoned geocacher with her. The two of them were amazing with helping with the hides. Of course we had to find a couple while we were there as well.
This was the last hide of the day. It's pretty simple since we want the scouts to be able to find it and hopefully start an interest in geocaching. It's going to be a great event and I hope the 5 caches we placed remain in the park for years.
I'm so lucky to have a friend like this.

Please re-hide and camouflage well for the next geocacher.

This cache is one of five hidden for the 2021 Boy Scouts of America’s Theodore Roosevelt Council, Rough Rider District Trek-o-Ree.

Huge thanks to RootsSearcher and Clammybird for all their hiding help.
