Geocache Description:

I'm a long time cacher, but not a prolific cacher.  The thing I love about caching and reason I keep coming back is that I love it when the search for a cache takes me to a place that I would otherwise never find.  That's awesome when I'm travelling and seeing new places, but even better when it's somewhere right under my nose that I never knew even existed.

And that's why, after 10yrs of caching, I've never hidden a cache until now.  I have never found the right spot (that wasn't already taken) that has given me enough inspiration to hide a cache.  Until now!

I may not be a prolific cacher, but I am a prolific explorer in the hills North-East of Melbourne.  Almost always on the back of a bicycle.  But the North-East hills have gotten to that point where it feels like I know every little nook and cranny and there is nothing left to explore.  When I found this spot on a recent ride, I couldn't believe I hadn't found it before!  It was just like that feeling of finding a new cache in an awesome location.  Immediately I knew that I'd found my first geocache hide.  I wanted to share this location with others.  For those who get to Ground Zero I'm sure you'll agree that this is an amazing location!

The cache isn't hard to find once you're at Ground Zero, but here are a few tips to help you get there.

  • You can access from either of the marked trailheads, or if you're like I was and on a bike, you can go from one trailhead to the other.
  • If you're on two wheels, you'll want something like a Mountain Bike or Gravel bike and there is steep gradients if coming from Koos Rd.
  • You do have to get over a fence to get to Ground Zero, but there is a fence stile that is visible from the main approach points, so it's an easy job to get over the fence if you keep your eyes open for the stile.

I hope you enjoy the view as much as I did!
