In 1997 two Israeli Air Force helicopters collided mid-air near the Lebanon border, killing all 73 military personnel on board. Staff-Sargent Assaf Siboni was a resident of Kibbutz Nir-Am and this memorial is in his name. There are twenty wind flutes hanging from one bar, one for each year of his life. At this site, you can look out over the region and see the Gaza Strip quite clearly while enjoying the gentle ringing of the wind flutes and the lapping of water in the Nir Am reservoir.
WARNING THIS SITE IS CLOSE TO THE BORDER AND YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF THE CURRENT SECURITY SITUATION BEFORE MAKING A VISIT
