Geocache Description:

Island Caching Made Easy

Raspberry Island (formerly known as Navy Island) – Saint Paul, MN

Saint Paul's last true island, once home to a small Navy base from 1949 to 1968, it is now a regional park. Raspberry Island is a beautiful site visitors can enjoy day or night along the Riverwalk pathway. Raspberry Island is a little gem of tranquility that allows for an escape outside the hustle and bustle of the city. Featuring music in the park throughout the summer season at its stunning illuminated bandshell, Raspberry Island is an unforgettable location for weddings, celebrations, and musical performances.

Free 2-hour parking is available on the island, but spots are somewhat limited. Please obey the rules and regulations set by the City of Saint Paul, including posted hours (sunrise to 11 PM, unless otherwise posted).

The posted coordinates will bring you very close to the Schubert Club Bandshell (stage/shelter). It can be rented by private parties for performances, weddings, and other private events. In most circumstances, it can only be rented by private parties between 9 AM and 5 PM. If you find it is currently in use, consider leaving this cache for another day.

Even if the stage is unoccupied, this cache may be difficult due to an often-overwhelming presence of muggles. Please try to be as stealthy as possible. I'm not a fan of micros, so you are searching for a larger small. Since you are a stone's throw away from downtown Saint Paul, be aware of the normal city dangers. It is not particularly winter-friendly but likely winter possible. Have fun and be safe.
