Welcome to Nahiku! Many people stop at this location and ask, "where am I?", "How far to Hana?" Well, this is Nahiku, in East Maui, technically "upper Nahiku" (as "lower Nahiku" is a few kilometers westward on the Hana Highway and consists of any place down Nahiku Rd.). There's not much but flowers and jungle in Nahiku, so anywhere you are is basically the center of town! From here it's "all down hill" to Hana town, about 12 kilometers (8 miles) away.
This is an excellent place to stop, get your bearings, breathe the fresh mountain air, use the wifi, drink some coffee, and find a geocache! This is one of the highest elevation stops along the Hana Highway at almost 300 meters (900 ft.)!
The geocache is hidden on private propery with permission. Do not pass the gate when it is closed, during non-business hours. You DO NOT NEED TO PASS THE GATE TO FIND THE GEOCACHE. The cache is basically a P&G. Do NOT disturb any plants or gardens in your search. Watch for the spiky, ornimental pink pineapple nearby!
I, the CO, have been the garderer/landscaper for this property for the past five years and ask that you please not step on or otherwise harm any plants in your search for this cache. This geocache is a sibling cache to my "Welcome to Hana" (GC4TTWF) cache closer to Hana town. Please attempt to find it too! It has been found 244 times and favorited 32 times as of this publication!
This geocache is well camoflaged and hidden. Please hide EXACTLY where and as you found it. The employees working at this location have been briefed about geocaching and know where the geocache is hidden and are authorized to give hints if necessary.
Please take the time to walk the property and enjoy the beautiful ocean view, hundreds of pineapple, bananas, flowers, and ornimental plants growing at this location. Gates open every day (except Sunday) 10-4.
Please CITO at every geocache you visit in Hawaii to help our island become a more beautiful place. Rock on fellow geocachers! Drive the Hana Highway with aloha and Mahalo for visiting!
