This area truly needeed a geocache.
Most people seem to stop at the more popular Carlon Falls Day Use Area near highway 120. However, if you are looking for a secluded picnic area, it is well worth the drive a few miles further along the road to Hetch Hetchy Reservoir to this spot. The Middle Fork Day Use Area has picnic tables, restroom with the middle fork of the Tuolumne River is a short, easy walk from the picnic area.
Another option for river access: Across the road from the day use area, there is a short scramble down the embankment to a wading pool along the river that is a great place to cool of from the summer heat.
The cache is in an official geocache container, about 6"x9" and has some items placed inside, along with a logbook and a an FTF coin. Also placed inside is a new travel bug with a bear that likes to travel in the mountains and forests
Since the cache is located in a public picnic area, it is failry well hidden. However, viewed from the right angle along with the hint, you should be able to partially see the cache without moving anything.
Happy caching!
