Arco de praia de Albandeira, uma formação rochosa natural erodido por elementos naturais: A praia de Albandeira é conhecida internacionalmente devido à formação rochosa em forma de arco que divide a praia. Este earthcache deve mostrar a peculiaridade e singularidade deste lugar e xplicar como ele surgiu.

Um arco natural é uma formação geológica em que existe também um arco ou ponte de pedra natural. A maioria dos arcos de pedra natural formado ao longo das falésias em que existe um maior estrato de maior resistȇncia à erosão no estrato mais suave. A progressiva retirada pelos agentes erosivo a partir da base da falésia em ambos os lados de uma parede fina com o tempo dará origem a um arco. O agente erosivo pode ser as ondas do mar, a água de um rio ou em determinadas circunstȃncias o vento.

Ela deve ser sempre para que se cumpra a erosão é maior pela parte inferior da falésia. O arco é formado por uma eliminação seletiva de partículas de rocha devido a um processo de erosão. As rochas de qualquer tipo são um complexo conjunto de partículas sólidas pequenas e interconectados, chamadas grãos, que são microscópicas fragmentos de cristais de vários minerais. Sob condições de alta pressãoe temperatura média de partículas menores é derretido, formando um cimento de pactos que as partículas maiores.

A avaliação macroscópica da erosãoocorre quando algum processo catastrófico forma pequenas fraturas no seio desta matriz. Este divide a rocha nos fragmentos grandes que podem sofrer deslocamentos relativa devido à força de gravidade ou à pressão de àgua. Em contraste, a erosão microscópica ocorre quando, por acção de um determinado agente geológico, dissolver os cristais do cimento que une os grãos da rocha. Ambas as erosões são eficazes embora em diferentes escalas de tempo.

Sob certas condições ambientais, a combinação de ambos os processos erosivos vai formar um arco natural, as condições de que dependerà do tipo a rocha, inclinação dos estratos ou exposição a rocha ao agentes geológicos erosiva. Esses processos devem operar em uma sequência específica para que possam dar origem à formação de arco. Alguns arcos naturais sobre os rios são formados a partir de rochas que estavam no caminho dos fluxos que estão erodindo a rocha por dissolução química dos seus sais minerals, a penetrar ela. Neste caso eles são chamados de pontes naturais mais de arcos.

The natural arch "Arco de Albandeira" is a rock formation created by natural erosion - and the beach of Albandeira is internationally known for this unique rock formation that divides the beach in two parts. This earthcache should show the peculiarity and uniqueness of this place and explain how this natural arch was created.

A natural arch or natural bridge is a natural geological formation where a rock arch forms, with an opening underneath. Most natural arches form as a narrow ridge, walled by cliffs, become narrower from erosion, with a softer rock stratum under the cliff-forming stratum gradually eroding out until the rock shelters thus formed meet underneath the ridge, thus forming the arch. Natural arches commonly form where cliffs are subject to erosion from the sea, rivers or weathering. The processes "find" weaknesses in rocks and work on them, making them larger until they break through.

The choice between bridge and arch is somewhat arbitrary. The Natural Arch and Bridge Society identifies a bridge as a subtype of arch that is primarily water-formed. By contrast, the Dictionary of Geological Terms defines a natural bridge as a "natural arch that spans a valley of erosion."

On coasts two different types of arches can form depending on the geology. Ondiscordant coastlines rock types run at 90° to the coast. Wave refraction concentrates the wave energy on the headland, and an arch forms when caves break through the headland.. When these eventually collapse, they form stacks and stumps. On concordant coastlines rock types run parallel to the coastline, with weak rock (such as shale) protected by stronger rock (such as limestone) the wave action breaks through the strong rock and then erodes the weak rock very quickly. When Stair Hole eventually collapses, it will form a cove.

Natural bridges can also form from natural limestone caves, where paired sinkholes collapse and a ridge of stone is left standing in between, with the cave passageway connecting from sinkhole to sinkhole.

Das Brandungstor "Arco de Arbandeira" ist eine durch natürliche Erosion entstandene Felsformation - und der Strand von Albandeira ist international bekannt durch diese einmalige Felsformation, die den Strand in zwei Hälften teilt. Dieser Earthcache soll die Besonderheit und Einzigartigkeit dieses Ortes zeigen und erklären, wie dieses Brandungstor entstanden ist.

Felsentore sind brücken- oder fensterartig durchbrochene Gesteinsformationen, die meist durch Erosion entstanden sind. Je nach Größe, Form, Entstehung und Umgebung kommen andere Bezeichnungen zum Tragen, etwa Felsbrücke, Stein- oder Felsbogen, Naturbrücke oder Brandungstor. Ihre Öffnung ist vollständig von Gestein umgeben und die Dicke der durchbrochenen Gesteinsformation ist von etwa gleicher Größenordnung wie die Breite und Höhe. Diese Erosionsformen gibt es in sehr unterschiedlichen Größen, vom kaum daumendicken Loch bis zu mehr als hundert Meter messenden Öffnungen, die von Felsen überwölbt sind.

Die genannten Erosionsformen können in allen Gesteinsarten entstehen. Sie sind kurzlebig in direkt erodierbaren Gesteinen oder in Umgebungen mit hoher Erosionsenergie, so etwa der Brandungszone von Steilküsten. Dauerhafte große Formen bilden sich besonders häufig in Sand- und Kalkstein, da diese Gesteine für die Erosion besonders anfällig sind.

Die Bezeichnung solcher natürlicher Öffnungen richtet sich nach ihrer Größe, Form, Entstehung und Umgebung. Felsen- oder Naturtore und Felsenfenster sind von unterschiedlicher Größe, eine Fels- oder Naturbrücke wurde durch Wasser erzeugt, das oft noch in Form eines Baches oder Flusses hindurchfließt. Fels-, Natur- und Steinbögen sind durch ihre Form gekennzeichnet und oft nicht hauptsächlich durch Wasser entstanden. Brandungstore entstehen durch die Wirkung der Meeresbrandung an Steilküsten.

Die Entstehung von Steinbögen und Felsbrücken geschieht üblicherweise durch Entfernung von Teilen natürlicher Felsformationen, im Regelfall durch Erosion. Am Anfang steht die Entstehung von Klüften durch verschiedene Prozesse, dann kommt es durch Druckentlastung oder tektonische Vorgänge wie Hebung oder Dehnung oder durch Aufweitung in Folge von Erosion zum Herabfallen von Material. Beide Arten der Entstehung können getrennt oder kombiniert ablaufen.

Felsentore bilden sich nur unter besonderen Bedingungen. Entscheidend sind die Art des Gesteins oder der beteiligten Gesteine, die Form der Felsformation und die Kombination von Erosionsvorgängen, welche auf diese einwirken. Ursächlich für die Bildung sind die Wirkung von Wasser, Temperaturveränderungen, Schwerkraft oder tektonischen Kräften. Wind spielt meist keine Rolle bei der Entstehung, er kann jedoch ein wichtiger Faktor bei der weiteren Gestaltung sein, zum Beispiel durch die schleifende Wirkung von mitgeführten Sandkörnern.

3.) Gehe zu Wegpunkt 2 und schau dir das Gestein, welches das Felsentor bildet, genauer an. Wie schaut das Gestein aus (Farbe, Struktur...)? Wie fühlt sich das Gestein an? Ist dieses Gestein deiner Meinung nach leicht erodierbar? Was für ein Gestein ist das deiner Meinung nach?
