Periodic Table of School Mystery Cache

Here is the puzzle:

I grabbed my backpack before heading to school today.  I wanted to make sure I had all of my supplies I would need for the day, so I looked inside to see what was in there.  I made sure I had plenty of paper and writing instruments for my English and Government classes, and my bottle of water for PE, as playing a lot of sports makes me really thirsty.  Next, for Geometry class, I had my protractor so I knew I'd be ready to measure the angles of all those crazy triangles.  Then I saw my shorts crumpled up on the bottom of the backpack.  Those are for PE also, as it's too hot outside to participate in sports wearing my jeans!  Lastly, I saw my sheet music that I needed for my piano class and a Bunsen burner for my chemistry class.  I knew I was set, and so off to school I went!
