This cache is hidden off of the Red Dog Trail. This is a very moist area and there are many ferns along the bluff and creek in this area.
This cache is placed on Shawnee National Forest property and is hidden in compliance with Shawnee NF geocaching guidelines. You access this cache from the primitive camping parking lot at Dixon Springs State Park, take Pine Tree Trail, then Bluff Trail to Red Dog Trail. Red Dog Trail is one of the recently designated mountain biking trails. Bikes may also be present on the Dixon Springs trails. They do a pretty good job of announcing themselves if they come up behind you. Just before Fern Cave we leave the trail and bushwhack along the bluff.
