90% of Everything!
* This is a high traffic area – please be discrete and watch for muggles.*
Even in our modern, speed-driven and globalized economy, 90 percent of everything still travels as it did almost 500 years ago: by ship.
The Port
The Port of Aarhus is a deep-sea port that is the largest container port in Denmark, handling more than 50% of the country’s container traffic.
The Ships
From this location you can see the Aarhus harbour in the distance with ships and cranes in action. If you come on Wednesday or Thursday you can typically see a big blue container ship in the harbour. These remarkable ships are some of the largest in the world measuring close to 400 metres long! Aboard these vessels are up to 18,000 TEU (twenty foot equivalent units) that are a critical piece of international trade.
The Cache!
The small container ships in the cache are meant to remain in the cache and is a representation of the scale of these ships. However, there is an extra shipping container in the cache which is a present to the first to find!
I wonder how many of these mini containers in the cache could fit on one of those ships? What do you think?
Please upload a photo of any ships you many see in the harbour - the large ones typically come on Wednesday / Thursday.
Also the harbour skyline is constantly changing, so any photo's would be great.
Thank you!
