This series of caches showcases the ghost towns of Renfrew County.

Letterkenny was another early pioneer settlement arising from the government’s road colonization program. A small crossroads hamlet, it served the needs of the surrounding farming community, with a post office, general store, saw mill, flour mill, and Lutheran Church.
The town itself never quite reached 50 in population, and now only the church, cemetery and a few farms remain, the settlement having fallen victim to the harsh conditions for farming. The lovely little church is nicely maintained and still used for special occasions.
In the 1940s, there is evidence that Chicago gangster Al Capone had a hideaway cottage built just south of here. The dilapidated cabin still exists, but is privately owned and off-limits to the public.
Inside the cache is a FTF prize of an unactivated geocoin from our Harvestfest events, many years ago.
