I hope you can join me, for an annual tradition, embracing fellowship, schmoozing, telling fibs, and stuffing ourselves on some fairly unhealthy, but amazingly yummy stuff! I do some sort of gathering each year, as my way of giving back to the geocaching community, for all the awesomeness you guys and gals have given me. Some years I burn hot dogs, and opposite years, I serve Hookers & Beer.
So, where did the name come from? My great, great, great uncle Lachlan Riffster was conscripted into the British Navy, many moons ago, for being caught in an embarrassing transgretion with some Mayor's daughter, and was shipped off to to the southern hemisphere, to protect British shipping interests. In his letters back to the family, he described pirates, sailing the seas betwixt New Zealand and Australia. Some loony Aussie noticed a physical similarity between pirate hooks and ice cream scoops, and from that day forward, root beer floats were called "Hookers & Beer". If you wish to bring something yummy, which goes with Hookers & Beer, feel free to do so.
Where did you think the term came from?
Get your mind out of the gutter!
A special thanks to Florida Forestry Service, for issuing a permit for this event.
Hope to see you there!
