I was driving down the blackwater on my way to grab a few geocaches, when I came across a dog wandering right in the middle of the road. He looked healthy but was skittish and shy and appeared to look a bit lost and confused, so while I assumed he was probably just a country dog I was a bit concerned he had been dumped. He wouldn't come to me, so I took a picture (to later share on facebook) and followed him for quite a while in hopes that he would find his way home. Well, he eventually took off into the bushes and that was that. Thinking he was gone I started to drive off when I noticed him walking down a side road where I where I was certain there were no houses. He was making good ground so now I'm thinking that he definitely must be lost. After following him for at about fifteen more minutes, a truck pulled up behind me and the dog was obviously happy to see this vehicle. The owner! Hooray!
So off I went to continue on towards my destination, but I missed the turn and had to turn around. When I saw this little pullout / parking area I did a quick U turn and immediately thought "How long as this been here? Is there a cache nearby?" As it turns out, there was not! There is a water though, and I couldn't help but think that the poor dog must have been really thirsty after his adventure. There was no cell service here, and still no signs of home. I wonder where he lives?
Cache is well hidden and may (or may not) be tricky to find at night. BYOP, and don't forget your water bottle.
