Saturday December 4th TIME 10am -12
This CITO is in conjunction with the Tronoh Dredge Hole Committee of Management that is organising the working bee. This group has done significant revegetation at this historic site over the decades and has been instrumental in creating a net work of walking tracks in the area. The The Tronoh Dredge Hole car park is off Feathertop Track. The dredge hole was created by the Tronoh Dredge which was one of the world’s largest electric powered mechanical dredges. The walking tracks around the Tronoh Dredge weave through native bush and ferns, along the Ovens River or around the dredge holes. These tracks are sign posted and offer further information on the significance of historical sites along the trails.
The work to be done will involve hand weeding, thistle removal, and checking out the guards currently in place along the Landmates Track that is parallel to the scenic Ovens River. It is accessed by a short walk in or 4WD vehicles can get closer.
Toilet facilities are available. It is that time of year (sssssnakes!) so please wear long pants and BYO protective garden gloves, water and sunscreen. It is preferable if you can bring small hand tools but some will be provided.
On arrival, please meet me near the information board where you will need to register with a smart device using a QR code. The working bee is conducted as per Victorian Government Guidelines and restrictions. Mask wearing is optional as we are outside.
Please register your "will attend" and indicate the number of cachers in your group. This way, you will receive any updates via announcements. Plus that, I'll then have enough scones to share!!
Contributing to this CITO will earn you the Cache In Trash Out, season 2 souvenir!
