The Quetzal Education Research Center was established to promote the conservation and appreciation of the resplendent quetzal, a spectacularly elegant trogon bird well known in central america but rarely seen. The QERC was established in partnership with the Savegre Valley Hotel in order to study and preserve this majestic bird's habitat, and to host visiting researchers and students to the unique montane cloud forest ecosystem.
The cache is hidden near the QERC field station, and be sure to visit the visitor's center or the hotel reception to learn more about the cloud forest trails and history of the valley.
