L&A has 2 ferry systems operated by the Loyalist Township on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of transportation. The Glenora Ferry and the Amherst Island Ferry.
The Glenora Ferry is part of Hwy33 running from Glenora in Prince Edward County to Adolphustown in L&A. Its a short free and picturesque 15-minute ride. During peak seasons, there is usually 2 Ferries running at one time to keep the flow of traffic moving quickly but during slow seasons, only one ferry is running making your wait time 30 mins.
The Amherst Island Ferry is located just west of Bath. You can catch the ferry from the main land at Millhaven Wharf and it heads to Stella Wharf on Amherst Island. There is only one ferry for this service. It takes roughly 25 mins to cross and there is a fee to use. The current name of the ferry is Frontenac II but will soon be replaced by a much more updated ferry in 2022.
To operate these vessels, you must have a captains license. Part of your training to become a captain is you must learn how to read signal flags. Begin your training by decoding this to find the final.
