Geocache Description:

The Paradyskloof Nature Area (or Eden forest) is 280 hectares of pine trees and trails near Stellenbosch.

There is no access fee and parking is freely available.

Be on the lookout for mountain bike riders who also love this place and regularly share the trails with geocachers/hikers. Always look where you are walking because there are snakes in the area.

Dogs are allowed on leashes - no fires - no picking wild flowers.

Open times:

May - September 7:30-18:00

October- April 7:30-20:00

No mask no entry (COVID regulation)

The Paradyskloof Waterfall (and cave) trail is an out and back trail of 5km, with an elevation gain of 270m. The last 200m is particularly strenuous.

The trail is rated as moderate and is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and bird watching and is accessible year-round.

Note: The high nearby mountain may affect your coordinates - use spoiler pics if you get stuck

This is a fun one that you can solve at the cave and find on your way back to your car.

(The final location is about 184m from the listed coordinates)

To work out final coordinates:

There is a 5-letter word painted in white at the back of the cave - see spoiler pic for position.

To get to the final location:

- use the numeric equivalent (a=1) of the first letter and add it to:

? + 341 = aaa

S 033° 58.aaa'

- use the numeric equivalent (a=1) of the last letter and add it to:

? + 93 = bbb

E 018° 53.bbb'
