The 11,052-acre parcel is located at the southern end of the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve and adjacent to Colt Creek State Park. Visitors can hike the road network or the trail system to enjoy the natural landscape of central Florida. There are approximately 30 miles of multi-use trails and some are excessively wet at certain times of the year. The District began purchasing land in the area in the early 1970s and is still carrying on acquisitions to protect the area's natural uniqueness, which will benefit current and future residents of southwest Florida.
THINGS TO SEE: The tract contains a variety of habitats and is great for bird watching and wildlife viewing. Portions of Gator Creek and Colt Creek flow within the tract boundary.
The trail is available daily from sunrise to sunset except during hunting or limited to equestrian activities.
2023 Managed Hunt Dates: (Trail will be closed): Jan 24 - Feb 2, Mar 9 - Mar 12, Apr 4 - Apr 9

This is a Letterbox Hybrid cache. For anyone not familiar with Letterboxing, there is a log in the cache for you to sign and stamp (with your stamp), then you stamp your own log or paper (with stamp that is in the cache). If you do not have your own stamp, then stickers or hand drawn artwork are acceptable or if you do not have your own stamp, you can just sign the log. DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP WITH YOU; IT IS NOT A TRADE ITEM!!!
This geocache is a part of the Trek Ten Trails 2021-2022 program. Participation in that program, while a lot of fun, is not required to log this cache.
New validation game cards that participants stamp are available at various locations and are listed on the Friends of the Parks website and OUTPOST 27 CACHE. Trek Ten Trails 2021-2022 program maps, game cards, and other information about each of the featured nature trails may be downloaded from the Friends of the Parks website.
