Among many things in my life I am thankful for, Chugach State Park is near the top of my list. I'm always grateful that Anchorage has such a fantastic backyard for recreation, sightseeing, photography, wildlife spotting, exercise (sometimes torture), and geocaching!!! This park brings people so much joy, with multiple trailheads and varied terrain there are countless possibilities for adventure!
Enjoy this cache, which is located up the hill from the bridge over McHugh creek. Take advantage of the opportunity to gawk at the view and catch your breath. It is a good location to watch the sunset, view the bore-tide on the inlet, and spot wildlife (like the ram and ewes that watched me from the cliffs to the south when I placed the cache).
The cache is semi-winter friendly, unless the snow gets really deep. There is room for small swag and trackables. Please CITO any trash you find. Always be wildlife aware- Dahl sheep, bears, moose, and coyotes also like this hillside.
Most importantly...practice gratitude and have fun!!!
