This cache celebrates one of Moorestown's local heros, Percy Lovell, who lived out his life in the nearby house.
Excerpts from "The Life of Percy Lovell, Editor of the Moorestown Chronicle"
Percy Lovell was born in 1872 and died in 1957 when he was 85. He lived all but nine years of his long life in Moorestown and spent 71 years as a printer, typographer, editor, publisher, and columnist at the Moorestown Chronicle. As a printer he ended his copy with -30- (the old printing way of signifying that a copy was done, finished) and as an editor he wrote only "happy news." This philosophy astounded many other newspapermen and he became the subject of countless features. He often said and wrote that "Happiness is being a country editor"
People especially remember his popular column "under the old hat of the country editor". This column ran for the last 15 years of his life. He was sitting at his desk at the news chronicle when he died. He is still remembered by people in Moorestown.
