A StoryWalk® is a way to combine physical activity with literacy; this may seem like an odd mix, but it’s an innovative way to get people of all ages out walking while reading children’s picture books. Pages of a book are transformed into signs that are then laid out on a trail inviting families, children, caregivers, teachers and others to follow the path of pages. So not only do the participants get to enjoy the great outdoors in a beautiful setting, they also improve their reading skills, get some entertainment, and learn something about a particular subject. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg Hubbard Library. The concept is free to use as long as credit to the creator of the concept is acknowledged through use of the previous sentence.
In this case, The Chapman Storywalk® Trail consists of 20 Storywalk® frames along the Adams Run Trail each containing laminated pages from a children’s picture book chosen to provide a story that includes environmental education and a message to reinforce stewardship of our natural resources. The approximately one half mile trail loop begins and ends almost at the same spot where you started at the posted coordinates. A brief quiz that you can take along the Storywalk® will reveal clues to help you solve the location coordinates of the mystery cache and earn you a smilie and a souvenir of your participation in the Storywalk®.
The physical cache container is not at the posted coordinates, however, it can be found at a location expressed as N 41* 45.ABC and W 079* 10.DEF or N41* 45. _ _ _ W 079* 10. _ _ _ To solve the mystery and determine the actual coordinates for the final cache location, visit these specific waypoints along the Storywalk and answer the questions below to solve for the missing coordinate digits: A, B, C, D, E, and F
