This is the third in a series of caches intended to repopulate Belmont Park in east Belfast, where there used to be several caches but most are now archived.
Belmont Park is a small park bounded by Circular Road, Cairnburn Road and Old Holywood Road in east Belfast, formally opened in the 1980s (see the stone by the Old Holywood Road entrance). It is bisected by the A55 dual carriageway with two bridges over the road to link the two halves of the park. It's a popular dog walking location, and also has a children's play area and some forest paths.
For caching purposes, there is parking at the Circular Road entrance (CIYMS) and a smaller car park at the Old Holywood Road entrance. Cycling cachers can also get there via either of these two entrances or on the A55 cycle path, but note that the park is a bit too steep in places to cycle through easily!
This cache is in the smaller side of the park, across the A55 from the other side. Here you will find some steep hills, picnic tables, and an odd wooden sculpture of three tall figures, which used to stand upright overlooking the road, but in recent years have become rather weary and now lie down in the grass.
This cache
This cache is located near a circular path which is nice and flat, and where I taught both my sons to ride a bike! The cache is a disguised micro/nano at ground level. Please take care when opening it and replace as found before you leaves.
