Älmesbo is a tiny... settlement? ...village? ...in the middle of the Hälsingland forests. Coming from road 301 you will first pass Nedre Älmesbo (Lower Älmesbo) and about two kilometers further enter Övre Älmesbo (Upper Älmesbo), located nicely on the eastern shore of Älmesjön lake. Hitta.se lists currently 24 people in Älmesbo, but to my knowledge there are only three that live her year round. There are plenty of nice lakes around Älmesbo and the nice thing about this place is: there happens almost nothing here, so it's a perfect place to relax! Well, in August 2021 the blues-rock band Prins Svart was playing a concert here and I hope they will return next summer!
If you follow the road further north you will come to one of Swedens few graphite mines, but that is not in use now off limits for visitors. One of the first days after I bought the house next to the cache in November 2021 a local stopped by and greeted me: Välkommen till Älsmesbo - Welcome to Älmesbo! :-)
