Geocache Description:

What is now the Mount Pleasant Nature Park once was a busy area in the town of Mount Pleasant. Constructed in 1820 the Haight mill was once located just west of the posted coordinates along the creek bed, take a look while you are here, you can still see bits and pieces of the foundation on the other side of the fence! This grist mill was one of the first buildings in the area, and was constructed by Elijah Haight. This mill was in operation for many years until 1911 when the Government Of Ontario decided that this would be the location of Ontario's first provincially directed fish hatchery. This hatchery remained open until its closing in 1965. Over the course of the last 56 years the land has became a public nature park for everyone to enjoy. Ponds and hiking trails were developed and maintained, and plaques were put up to show the unique historical and ecological features of the park.
