Geocache Description:

Welcome to our annual winter series in which we are saying goodbye to another year.  This year we are featuring various dog breeds. These geocaches will be out until at least the beginning of April. Be sure to grab the code as you will need it later.  German Shephard was the third most registered breed in 2020 according the the AKC club. Their obedience, trainability and intelligence make them a good work dog.  They are especially useful in military and policeuse for search and rescue means  If you have run into TJPost at all on the caching trail you may have run into their dog Bennett pictured above.  Here is a some background on Bennent as quoted from TJPost

---------

I found Bennett on Craig's List. He was born on a property near Newaygo and was living under a car with his littermates. He was rescued (some of the dogs had to be put down) and placed in a rescue facility. Someone adopted him b/c family members were adopting Bennett's siblings but they didn't really want him. They loved their little dog and so Bennett spent 23 hours a day in his kennel. He didn't care at all when we took him nor did he respond to his name (Bullet). Tom couldn't say his name and on the second day we had him it came out Bennett and the dog perked his ears. Okay, Bennett it is! He wasn't quite 5 months old when we got him. He's very attached to me and doesn't like to be left alone. He also doesn't like his feet touched, we think that's because he was in a kennel so much. He's getting old now; his back legs don't work very well - he can barely jump up into the truck and he can't really run anymore. He loves to walk though and as long as he's on the grass he can walk 2-3 miles with us. On pavement, his feet slide and he doesn't do very well. He's very happy and so we'll just keep watch on how he's doing and hope we know when it's time to say goodbye.

UPDATE  RIP Bennent 1/14/21.
