The Shetland Sheepdog, also known as a Sheltie, is herding dog originating from the Shetland Islands in Scotland. Shelties bear a strong resemblace to their larger cousin, the border collie. Their coats are long and straight with a dense undercoat. They have a wedged-shaped head and small erect ears, sometimes folded over. Most shelties that are used for herding will not have tails, and if they have a shortened tail.
