Geocache Description:

A series that will not only introduce you to some of the dog parks around the mornington peninsula but we will also be sharing some fun facts and information about a different breed of dog for every cache in the series! Although they are numbered they don't have to be done in order. We have also got our resident experts, Ebony (Gnome5580s geodog!) And Calypso (Beckgizs geodog!) Who will be giving each dog park a score of 1 to 5 paws depending on how much they approve of this park! 🐶 we hope you enjoy this series as much as Ebony and Calypso had testing each of these parks out 😉 and on that note here is their opinion of this park:

STRINGER ROAD RESERVE:

This reserve in Blairgowrie is one of the only leash free areas in the entire suburb so it can get busy at times with doggos and their humans. It's also very busy with plenty of other community activities as well like sport on weekends and the community gardens which are behind the oval. As far as being a dog park there's a few things to note like the oval is only partially fenced and there are no real areas to sit except for near the courts behind the oval, there is water at the toilets and bins but it's definitely lacking in some of the creature comforts! Ebony and Caly give this park 3 out of 5 paws!

The breed we've chosen for this park is the:

SAMOYED

The Samoyed is a breed of medium-sized herding dogs with thick, white, double-layer coats. They are a spitz-type dog which takes its name from the Samoyedic peoples of Siberia.

Hypoallergenic: Yes

Life span: 12 – 14 years

Other names: Bjelkier; Samoiedskaya Sobaka

Temperament: Playful, Friendly, Lively, Stubborn, Sociable, Alert

Height: Female: 48–53 cm, Male: 53–60 cm

Origin: Siberia, Russia

Weight: Female: 16–20 kg, Male: 20–30 kg

Samoyed ears are thick and covered with fur, triangular in shape, and erect. They are almost always white but can often have a light to dark brown tint (known as "biscuit"), usually around the tips of the ears.

The Samoyed tail is one of the breed's distinguishing features. Like the Alaskan Malamute the tail is carried curled over the back; however, unlike the Alaskan Malamute, the Samoyed tail is held actually touching the back. It is not usually held in a tight curl, or held flag-like; it is usually carried lying over the back and to one side.

THE CACHE:

The cache is a 1litre sistema, definitely big enough for heaps of swaps and TBs! The cache is slightly out of the way of the main oval and garden which should give you some cover when signing the log book but of course stealth is still recommended especially when there are sports or other activities on. Please make sure you hide the cache well before you leave! Happy hunting! 🤠
