A Prickly Situation presents itself here.....or does it. If you chose right, there should be no bloodshed at all.
PRICKLY PEAR CACTI:
Opuntia, commonly called prickly pear, is a genus of flowering plants in the cactus family Cactaceae. Prickly pears are also known as tuna, sabra, nopal from the Nahuatl word nōpalli for the pads, or nostle, from the Nahuatl word nōchtli for the fruit; or paddle cactus. The genus is named for the Ancient Greek city of Opus, where, according to Theophrastus, an edible plant grew and could be propagated by rooting its leaves.
I have used the bright purple tunas of this cacti to make Prickly Pear syrup...and jelly (You wouldn't want jam, too sticky). My understanding is that the Nopalitos or the pads of the cactus are also edible with proper preparation and caution.
The cache you seek is not a sticky one.....unless you chose wrong. Foothiils Park is 1.2 mile paved loop trail....however, I found a rocky path as well with a cache hole. DO NOT APPROACH FROM THE NORTH!! Any other direction should work from within the Park. Should be a quick find and please, rehide as you found it so that it is safe from muggle. NO signature on the log will result in a deleted find log online.
