This original geocaching is offered to you by Balkan Hotspot, a non lucrative organisation. This project is part of a project to discover volunteering by getting to know our volunteers thanks to geocaching. Each cache represents one volunteer : The localisation is related to them and the text will present them.
Let’s begin the volunteer hunt !
My name is Marie, I’m 25 years old, I’m from France in the North East. I’m a volunteer at Balkan Hotspot for 2 month. I’m making a map for Stratoni, with graphic design but I’m also in charge of Facebook where I publish the articles and events. I made articles and I’m making a graphic charter for the organisation.
I wanted to do another volunteer experience after this one, so I chose to do a short-term, but it’s really short ! I wanted to go abroad and live an intercultural experience so I became a volunteer, but also to enjoy a bit before working. I chose this project because I’ve made studies in it and the subjects approached interested me, like communication, events or human rights. I like the freedom we have to choose a topic that we are really interested in, like for my article on street art.
I’ve discovered the city, new people, made new relationships, and I discovered Bougatsa ! I really recommend to eat Bugatsa at the seaside. I’ve learned so much already ! My English is better and I’ve learned greek. I really like being in the house with all the volunteers, it’s like a big family. After this project, I will do a long-term volunteer for sure, maybe in the Dance and Arts domain, I really like dancing.
I really enjoy the seaside here, I think it’s the place that make me maybe the happiest. But I also enjoy the tavernas here, you can share appetizers, it’s really friendly ! I’ve also discovered a park more outside the city where there is a lot of street art, it’s really beautiful.
Interesting thing about me, I speak a lot with sound, with onomatopoeia. It’s an international language, everybody understands me, but it’s quit funny to see ! And, be jealous, I can make a nap for 20 minutes and don’t like a zombie after.
