This cache is located within easy walking distance of my house. I walk by here all the time and had grown used to checking on the cache that used to be at this location. So when it went missing and was finally archived, I knew I had to grab the spot. I had really wanted to adopt the original cache, but it just didn’t work out so it was easier to start fresh.

Welcome to Michael J. Shibe Park! This small park was developed in 3 sections between 1988 and 1999. It was renamed in 2006 to honor Mr. Shibe for his contribution to the community, which included being a long-time Boy Scout leader, coach for youth soccer and hockey, and contributions to his local church. I never knew Mr. Shibe, but my sons both belonged to Boy Scout Troop 129 where he had been a leader. He passed suddenly from an accidental electrocution while attending the 2005 National Scout Jamboree in Virginia.
The park has a paved lit trail that connects two subdivisions to Gladys Wood Elementary School. It also has open space and a wooded area with trails (though they can get quite wet during the summer). There are also several other geocaches located in the park.
I was hoping to use another type of cache container, but just couldn’t get it to fit right. Experienced cachers will know what I mean. The container that’s there will have to do for now, but I may change it in the future. The cache should be available in the winter if the snow isn’t too deep to get to it.
As always, use stealth and be careful, moose frequent this area, as do many muggles! Be safe and have fun.
