This is one of ten caches placed for Cache Across Maryland 2022. You must find all ten caches prior to the picnic held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in order to receive a free Maryland Geocaching Society CAM geocoin.
Make note of the attribute symbol found inside each cache container. You must enter all the symbols into an online decoder in order to print a claim form and receive your geocoin at the picnic. More info on CAM is available here.
Rock Maze Trail
Rock Maze Trail is a 0.8 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Oakland, Maryland that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The Rock Maze trail is a pleasant walk through old growth timber back to a maze of large boulders that you are able to explore numerous nooks and crannies.
Heading into the maze, turn left at the burnt log at the tree. Follow the path on the outer edge of rocks and veer right. You approach an intersection of rocks and will need to turn right after a standing tree on the left. You should come to this area below.
About 6 to 8 steps, you will approach the posted coords. You will be looking for a four letter name written in black about 4 feet up on the hanging rock on the right. It is across from some impressive roots. What you need is right there. On the front but faded.
Use those four letter to calculate the final coordinates for this cache using the methodology that A=1, B=2,......Y=25, Z=26.

The cache is hidden on your way back to the parking lot. Please hide as well as or better than found.
