3 Williams Kidz: Two weeks since the event took place, hope everyone had a great time. Time to archive this one. I have zero plans for hosting another event but definitely plan on doing so, just not anytime soon. Happy New Year to everyone!

Geocache Description:

01 January 2022, 11:00 - 12:00

PHOTO BELOW OF THE GREAT TURNOUT !  I HEREBY DUB ALL ATTENDEES "OFFICIAL POLAR BEAR EVENT ATTENDEES ! "

IT IS GOING TO BE COLD -- PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY. And:

1. I will have 30 pair of single use hand warmers that will be activated and warmed up before event start time.

2. I am renting a "hurricane heater" that I HOPE I will have running (never rented one before but will try it out at home first).

3. You DO NOT have to stay for the entire one hour.

First Geocaching event in Woodland Park in 2022 !

By attending this event and logging “Attended” you will earn the “Once upon a time 2022” souvenir on geocaching.com (if you hadn’t logged a previous cache or event on January 1st

Glenn of the 3 Williams Kidz geo-team will be hosting a one hour event at Memorial Park in Woodland Park at a covered gazebo.  You do not have to stay for the entire hour.

If you discover trackables, you have the opportunity to get the very rare tattoo icon on your Public Profile page, as Glenn will show you the tattoo he recently got on his left arm -- Not all thosE who Wander are loSt (TB7019) This is the icon:

There will be a logsheet for you to sign (not required, but you can sign it if you wish) and you WILL get SOMETHING for free !  Yes -- FREE !!!  As with all 3 Williams Kidz events, there is NOTHING to buy, not even raffle tickets (because there isn't a raffle) but you will get something geocaching related at no cost.

This is a very nice park with a small lake, picnic tables (that may all be taken, except the one that I will be reserving) and a playground for the youngsters.

Very similar to our last event (GC8Q9GG) we will be conducting a FREE giveaway of stuff, but not nearly as much stuff.  Since the "draw a card" random giveaway worked well last time, let's do the same again, and also with the same two grand prizes.

FREE STUFF:  Based on the number of cachers that log "Will Attend", I will have geocaching related things to give away (see below). There will be TWO "grand prizes" -- a one year Premium Membership to geocaching (extension if you are already a Premium Member) and a one year subscription to FTF Geocacher magazine (extension if you already subscribe).

How to conduct a fair giveaway:  Say 15 people log "Will Attend".  At the event, I will have a deck of cards.  I get two aces and 13 other cards, not aces.  YOU see all the cards.  Then, they get turned over and mixed up on the table where everyone can see them getting mixed up and then moved apart.  YOU pick a card.  If you draw an ace, you win a grand prize !  If you draw any card other than an ace, you pick from the other FREE items.

I will have more items to give away than the number of "Will Attend" log entries, so that if the cards run out, those who show up still get something for free.

Looking forward to seeing cachers there !

Some of the prizes that will be given away (all trackables are new and unactivated):

Grand Prize #1:  One year Geocaching Premium Membership (extension if you are already a Premium Member)

Grand Prize #2:  One year membership to FTF Geocacher magazine (extension if you are already a Premium Member)

Other prizes to choose from after you draw a card:

Signal the Frog Sports Travel Tags – one attendee gets the set of four

Geocaching Premium Member trackable nametag

Plastic ammo can with a camo geocaching sticker, Rite in the Rain logbook and pencil

Size regular geocaching.com opaque plastic lock-and-lock with a camo sticker, Rite in the Rain logbook and pencil (the biggest of the three in the picture at the hyperlink)

Holiday stocking grab bag that I will put together – the stocking is from geocaching.com, but I will put various items in it that you DO NOT get to see unless you choose it

Magnetic and reflective vehicle Travel Bug – 7” x 3.5”

The Ginormous Micro container (color: black)

Fanny pack with 2 water bottles

Micro Signal the Frog® Plush- with Keychain

Trekking Pole

I will have a bucket with several items in it; if you draw a card and do not win a grand prize or pick any of the other items listed above, you get to pick TWO different items from the bucket (and they must be different):

1. Geocaching tweezers – the long skinny ones that actually work on nano caches and in other tight spots

2. TFTC vehicle sticker

3. Paw print trackable tag (I have activated one and dropped it off in this event - it is in the Inventory)

4. Goat trackable tag (I have activated one and dropped it off in this event - it is in the Inventory) – why a goat, you may ask?  The www.landsharkz.ca webpage says: You're out on a beautiful geocaching day and you find a cache!  You open it enthusiastically, only to find a ratty, unreadable looking logsheet, no pencil and no SWAG.  Disappointing!  We have a theory about why that happens, and it's simple... Goats!  They find geocaches, chew them up, eat the pencil and leave them!  In honour of these pesky (but adorable) goats, we created this trackable tag.

5. Chewed gum magnetic geocache container with tiny logsheet

6. Nano butterfly geocache container with logsheet

7. Nano Fly geocache container with logsheet

8. Bolt geocache container with logsheet

9. Mini decon cache container with a camo geocaching sticker

10.Paracord Survial Keychain

11. Small First Aid Kit at the link, it is the second picture down, on the left. Clear orange container with a mostly square top

12. Small flashlight with 3 new AAA alkaline batteries

13. Several assorted new and unactivated trackables

14. A few other geocaching-related items

Looking forward to seeing you there -- dress warm !!!
