As my K9K8 nickname indicates: I love dogs! I grew up with 14 different dogs and have had 4 dogs of my own. My first vocation was as an engineer; once a geek, always a geek. As a second career I switched to dog grooming. I like to claim that I have had hundreds of pets, but only a few are 24/7. I’ve since retired from both careers. Both science and animals have enriched my life. All my cache hides will have something to do with the dogs I’ve known and loved.
The name of this cache comes from my Field Irish Setter named “Paprika”. She has many nicknames. Because Irish Setters have been breed to be bird dogs for hunters they are very focused on their surroundings. Any bird, Dove size or larger, attracts her attention no matter where she is. When she was young I used to take her for doggy day care. She’d make herself so dizzy while tracking vultures circling in the sky that she’d fall over! In the house, in the car, or on a walk I must always be ready for a warning bark that a bird has been sited. Scares the socks off me most of the time! It’s natural for her, she can’t help it. If she ever met a turkey face to face, there would be a show down for sure.
