The Sargent trail, is part of the Hobart-Fesseden Trail System, one of the most popular in Brookline NH. This special open space is home to a heron rookery, a large winter herd of deer, moose, bears, and lots of other wildlife. The trails are used by hikers, mountain bikers, horses, and snowmobiles. With heavy traffiic during the pandemic this trail system showed signs of this heavy use.
This cache is part of Shea Decoteau's Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can hear. The other part of this project is the bridge located along this trail. This bridge was put in place to help keep hikers on the trail. Before the bridge installation, the trail went from 3 feet wide to seven and half feet wide over the water.
All the items that were placed in the round cache container were donated by other Girl Scouts and included vintage patches, a compass kit, and a dragonfly.
This gray container is accessable rain or shine or even with a few feet of snow.
