Fino agli anni '80 ci abitavano gli operai addetti alla manutenzione delle strade. Poi poco alla volta però sono state dismesse: sono le 1.244 Case Cantoniere distribuite su tutto il territorio nazionale che prendono il nome proprio da chi le abitava, i “cantonieri”.

Nel lontano 1830, il Regio Decreto del 13 aprile del re di Sardegna, Carlo Felice, istituisce la figura del cantoniere, il cui compito è quello di occuparsi della manutenzione e del controllo di un "cantone" della strada (un tratto di 3/4 kilometri).

Oggi abbiamo 1.244 case cantoniere su tutto il territorio, di cui la metà sono utilizzate come sedi operative, per il personale di esercizio, magazzini o altre funzioni. Le rimanenti case cantoniere sono visualizzabili navigando la mappa. Siamo fortemente impegnati nella valorizzazione e nel riutilizzo del nostro patrimonio immobiliare. Per questo motivo, a marzo 2021 è stato pubblicato sulla Gazzetta Ufficiale un bando per l’assegnazione di 100 case cantoniere dislocate su tutto il territorio nazionale.

In the distant 1830, the Royal Decree of 13 April of the king of Sardinia, Carlo Felice, establishes the figure of the roadman, whose task is to take care of the maintenance and control of a "canton" of the road (a section of 3/4 kilometers).

The remaining roadman's houses can be viewed by navigating the map. We are strongly committed to the enhancement and reuse of our real estate assets. For this reason, in March 2021 a tender was published in the Official Gazette for the assignment of 100 roadside houses located throughout the country.
