This is an easy park-by cache - it will be easily located - the difficulty relates to the time required to open the container.
It is placed along the Lake Walkway which runs from the Taupo Marina to 5-mile Bay, providing a nearly flat walk, cycle, wheelchair or skateboard access around the edge of the lake. This cache is only 50m from the closest parking area. Good swimming, bench seats and picnic tables are available adjacent to the cache, as they are along all the walkway. The 3-mile bay boat ramp & Secombe Park are within easy walking distance (approx. 8 mins).
Mature specimen trees are dispersed throughout the area, some individual and some in groupings. The banks are generally vegetated with a mix of indigenous and weed species. Wildlife includes geocachers, rabbits, black swans, cormorants, scaup and ducks.
The cache is a specially designed “cryptex” container (see inset picture), hiding within another object. To open it, you will need to crack the code using a 4-letter word that relates to the main activities involved in geocaching. Align the red lines with the red arrows. There are at least 10 relevant words possible but only one will work. The clue is in the title. The container has room for a few small swaps.
