Vahetult Võru linna külje all asuv Tamula järv on suvitajate meelispaik. Rannal asuvad atraktsioonid lastele, treeningmasinad spordihuvilistele ning Võru Rannabangalo, kus suviti järveäärset melu nautida. Talvisel perioodil toimuvad Tamula järvel kalapüügivõitlused ja talverallid.
Järv on ovaalse kujuga ja 231,3 ha suur. Suurim sügavus on 7,5 m ja keskmine 4,2 m, asudes 69,1 m kõrgusel merepinnast.
Järv on nõrga läbivooluga, sisse voolab Kubija oja ja mõned kraavid. Väljavool toimub Võhandu jõkke. Tamula järv on Võhandu maratoni stardikohaks.

Lake Tamula Beach is located in the city of Võru, on the shore of Lake Tamula.
The beach is maintained and there are changing cabins and various attractions. You can play football and volleyball, sunbathe on the grass or the sandy beach, have fun on the playground, or build sandcastles. You can take the sailing boat Tuuletark or the vessel Tamula vanake to go onto the lake. Lifeguards will look out for your safety.
The beach promenade of Tamula Lake begins at Tamula Hotel and runs along the beach to Roosisaare bridge. There are lovely benches and swings next to the promenade, which are perfect for observing the ducks and swans. The lake has an area of 2.313 km⊃2;, average depth is 4.2 m and maximum depth 7.5 m.
