Geocache Description:

Hello there, Geocastaway!
Before you get started, here's a pep talk from the winner of Survivor: AfricaEthan Zohn.

This is Episode 03 and final episode of the Survivor: Worlds Apart trilogy, the 3rd season of my Geocache Survivor Series.

This season, geocastaways will be tested on their deduction, observation, and coordination skills and must choose between Outwit and Outplay to Outfirst (not Outlast for geocaching) all the others. Both options are field puzzles, i.e. they will make much more sense and become way easier once you are on site.

The caches this season come with idols (sorry, not claimable) inspired by tribes of Survivor: Worlds Apart, and for this episode, by Tribe Masaya. This episode takes Geocastaways to the heart of Sydney Olympic Park starting at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Cauldron.

NOTE: FTF can claim a trackable related to being a "world apart"! Woohoo!

Geocastaways of tribe MASAYA,
choose how you think you can outfirst all other players:

OUTWIT

  • NOTE: As of this writing, the solution checker is not showing in the app. You can view the cache page in browser to test your derived coordinates.
  • The photos are photos of actual castaways in Surivor: Worlds Apart. However, the names have been changed for the purpose of this riddle/puzzle.

OUTPLAY

AT THE GZ:

NOTES:

  • Like most mystery caches, the physical container is NOT at the published coordinates. The published coordinates are the starting point for choosing Outwit vs Outplay.
  • Outwit is super easy and fun once you get the hang of what you need to do. Outplay requires a bit of hide and seek luck, and a bit of wit if you want to maximise the hint.
  • For Outplay, note that the hint item is NOT the cache. Please put back the hint item properly so that it can withstand the forces of nature, and also avoid muggle eyes.
  • The container is small, so please do BYOP. Feel free to add swappables if space permits.

LOGGING REQUESTS:

  • Please log which method you chose to outfirst all other players: Outwit or Outplay.
  • Please make sure to lock and seal the log and the idol properly.
  • Please "re-package" the container as neatly as possible and reposition to avoid wetness as much as possible.
  • Please do NOT log direct spoilers but feel free to add your own cryptic clues.
  • Please log if you have claimed FTF trackable.

FTF:

  • tronador wins immunity and reward for Masaya tribe!

HINTS and SPOILERS!

  • Do not read this section unless you intend to get a few spoiler hints.

  • Outwit
    • Along the outwit path is the public artwork called "Games Memories" which is a tribute to the volunteers who made the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games such a magnificent occasion. The poles list the names of the 74,000 Olympic and Paralympic Volunteers who contributed their time and energy to these events.
    • The names on Spencer's (South coordinates) and Ethan's (East Coordinates) tribes except for those eliminated ones are on one of the poles. If the name appears first in the list on a pole, the number you get is 1, and so on. See sample on image:
    • REVEAL

  • Outplay
    • Along the outplay path is Haslam's Pier which has a water fountain ("where water flies") and from which you can see The Pyramid which is covered in grass.
    • Somewhere in Haslam's Pier is the sign below with a heading "A bird's eyes view":
    • REVEAL
